In 1979, Ridley Scott gave movie-going audiences an alternative to cheesy sci-fi with a more grounded, thoughtful “Alien.” More than 30 years later, Scott brought us a prequel to that same movie that was just as poignant. “Prometheus” was a thought-provoking film that used state-of-the-art visuals to ponder different aspects of the question “Where did we come from?” That succeeded with great performances from Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba and Michael Fassbender as a humanoid android.
The movie’s only flaw was it didn’t have the moody tension of the original classic and lagged in the middle act. But it was still an intelligent sci-fi flick that required multiple viewings, and it will be well worth it.
